The Evolution of Enterprise Wireless LAN Architecture
Today, users have many wireless architecture choices including centralized or distributed Wi-Fi switch architectures or unproven coordinated control AP-only networks - many of which lack the flexibility to support the throughput and scalability that enterprise applications demand.
Designed from the start with support for intelligent edge-to-edge distributed switching, the Bluesocket solution architecture leverages existing switch infrastructure to handle high speed traffic and provide an optimal mix of security, control and quality of service (QoS). This approach supports anticipated 802.11n performance, delivering a combination of secure centralized switching for security centric applications and on-demand edge forwarding for select latency-sensitive traffic - without increasing network complexity or introducing disruptive upgrades.
Edge-to-Edge
Many benefits of emerging mobility applications will be realized at the very edge of wireless networks - which can often be hampered by slower access speeds, poor performance and less reliability. By taking advantage of the Bluesocket Edge-to-Edge (E2E) architecture, customers can design their networks so that defined portions of their wireless traffic are tunneled to BlueSecure Controllers, while traffic from other SSIDs is given access to an available application specific VLAN. This on-demand capability of the Bluesocket WLAN solution leverages the design of BlueSecure APs, allowing for certain functions such as Access Control (802.1x), Load Balancing and QoS to take place on the AP, as opposed to the network Controller.
Next-Generation Virtual Wireless LAN (vWLAN™)
In the era of 802.11n, voice, and larger wireless deployments, maintainability and total cost of ownership are at the forefront, forcing a tighter integration to the wired infrastructure.
Building on the advanced features and capabilities of its distributed edge switching and intelligent access point solutions, Bluesocket's next-generation vWLAN™ architecture unifies wireless and existing wired networks to produce a truly integrated and optimized networking solution. vWLAN will allow customers to dramatically reduce the cost of deploying and operating large-scale Wi-Fi networks while providing wired-equivalent performance for wireless users, with seamless roaming and enterprise-class security and policy management.
With Bluesocket's unique vWLAN architecture, network OEMs can also take advantage of a flexible model to rapidly add highly-scalable wireless capabilities and an optimal mix of security, control and quality of service (QoS) to their network infrastructure offerings.
