SIP

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) technology is the signaling protocol used for Pingtel's open source SIPxchange IP PBX. Using SIP, two or more endpoints in an IP network create session connections. These connections, when established, bypass the server and allow direct end-point to end-point signaling.

Architected as a pure SIP solution, Pingtel's SIPxchange is suited for small and large deployments as it supports fully redundant, high availability call control along with a web-based configuration and management tool. SIPxchange offers plug-and-play management of SIP components, including integrated management and configuration of attached SIP phones and SIP gateways. SIPxchange is a modular server based solution that runs on standard Linux and does not require any additional hardware as it interoperates with any SIP-compliant gateway, phone, or application.
